Absolutely Perfect!! Staff is out of this world and the views/food/drinks were top tier!!
We had a room block here for our wedding and Alexia, the Meeting & Event Services Manager, was such a sweetheart and the best to work with! She was so responsive and went above and beyond even leaving us the sweetest note in our suite with a bottle of champagne :). We can not recommend this hotel more, it made our wedding week perfect!
Another amazing thing about this hotel is that it is close to the busy Waikiki if you want to walk to all the restaurants and shops its maybe 5-10 min walk along the beach/sidewalk but its far enough away that its so much more peaceful. The beach in front of the hotel is also so much nicer than actual Waikiki in my opinion and they have beach chairs and towels you can use too!
There is also a really cute coffee shop/boutique on property and a convenience store as well. The Hau Tree also has amazing food and drinks, we ordered lots of room service from there haha! It was also such a treat getting a yummy drink at their stunning hotel bar after a long day in the sun and sand.
If we could relive the week over and over again we totally would.

KAIMANA BEACH HOTEL (ex-NEW OTANI) - NOT WORTH THE MONEY
Honolulu, Hawaii.
This is has been my worst hotel experience ever. And this comes to you from a world traveler of over 2.5 million miles in dozens of countries.
Why?
Let’s start with the hotel appearance. The immediate impression is that of a hotel on its last legs… dirty, shabby, worn-out rugs (see the pic), rusted balconies, unpleasant odor (like mold), old TV sets which do not support Netflix or Prime Video (no “smart TVs), no coffee machines in the rooms. Furthermore, the rooms are tiny, like the postage stamp hotel rooms in Tokyo for which you pay a fortune. Perhaps that’s not surprising.This hotel’s name used to be New Otani, like its namesake in Tokyo. And many of its guests are Japanese.
The lobby is also tiny, shabby (see the picture of the reception), and always crowded. And the service terrible. When I needed something done in our room while my wife and I were out and about, I called the hotel. I was put on hold for 39 mins! During which time we had already walked back to the hotel. When I showed my phone to the manager with the 39 mins hold, he just shrugged. “We are busy,” he said.
And now, here comes the clincher. For the “privilege” of all these crappy experiences one pays over $500/night. Furthermore, they charge the entire amount of your reservation to your credit card upfront, no matter how many days you actually stay. Then they refund the excess when you check out. Weird!
To say that this hotel is not worth the money would be an understatement.
To be fair, there was one thing that attracted us to this hotel when I made the reservation: its location. The hotel is located right on Kaimana beach. And the ocean view from our room above the beach is stunning. Of course, the hotel management had nothing to do with that and everything to do with all the other bad experiences. A great view cannot compensate for all the other deficiencies.
So we moved across the parking lot to a MUCH BETTER hotel (Lotus Honolulu). For about half the price. But not before paying over $2,600 at Kaimana for just 5 days.

Disappointed on Room Descriptions.
The pictures on the website were identical to what is now listed as “Oceanfront View 1 King Bed” . The difference is that instead of the ocean view indicated, we were now looking at roof tops and Waikiki. The Ocean was evident, by looking sideways, as was Diamondhead.
Not at all what the pictures indicated. The Front desk Manager could only explain that we have the room we are supposed to have, and no other options were available since we booked through a third party. And yet, I had studied the hotel on their own website.
Also, while the Lobby and ground floor were beautiful. The rooms and hallways were a bit outdated with worn carpeting.
