Good hotel for stopover without air conditioning
The hotel is ideal as a stopover and is conveniently located right on the border. Of particular note is the excellent service at the hotel - we arrived quite late, after 9pm, but they waited for us at reception. The windows of our room and the terrace in front offered a view of the Rhine and Switzerland. The room was clean, very well prepared and equipped with everything necessary, including good Wi-Fi and flat screen TV. Near the hotel there is an excellent restaurant serving Black Forest cuisine and a wonderful breakfast, most of which offers fresh local produce.
The only downside could be the lack of air conditioning, which can be a bit uncomfortable in summer with a room temperature of over 25 degrees. Therefore, we slept with open windows and mosquito repellent, as the river is nearby. Depending on your mobile phone contracts, it is also important to disable data roaming as your phone may dial into the expensive Swiss mobile networks.
Overall, we liked the hotel very much and we will gladly visit it again in cooler seasons!

Once and never again
I stayed at the Hotel am Hochrhein from 15 to 26 July 2024 for professional reasons. Had this not taken place, I would certainly have left after the second day of my stay. The reasons for this are as follows: The noise level in my room was barely bearable due to traffic on the opposite highway; therefore, the hotel provided earplugs. In addition, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired; this is evidenced by photos of black spots (mold infestation) on the silicone joints in the shower as well as moisture spots on the wood of the bathroom door. There was also a €5 charge if food was brought into the room or delivered from external sources; see photo as proof of this. Furthermore, the sheets or covers are not changed every two days during a desired basic cleaning and the interior design looks very outdated with squeaky beds and sagging mattresses can result . Finally, parking spaces are reserved for motorhomes and artisan buses; consequently, only the possibility of parking on the street remains.

Good value, not the most luxurious but what can you expect for less than 100 eur!

Suitable for one night maximum
The stay was very disappointing. We had won a voucher from Greenstorm. When we made the booking, we were charged 4 Wellcards for 16 euros without asking, and then 2 guest cards for 10 euros. We had a double room for 2 nights with half board. The room was on the ground floor, directly facing the street. There were earplugs in the bathroom, as it was impossible to open the window at night due to the street noise. On the evening of the second day, we found our Wellcard lying on the table, which supposedly gave us some kind of discount. Only we left the next morning. My husband asked at reception why we only got the card the evening before we left. He was then given a tirade by the hotel owner, who wanted to exercise his right to refuse entry and throw us out, even though we had already paid for the night. There was also a large poster at reception saying that waste not belonging to the hotel would be charged at 5 euros. We had bought a few cherries on the way, we didn't even dare to throw the stones in the trash, we disposed of them in the public trash the next day.
Guests are apparently not welcome in this establishment, we left the hotel the next morning. The location of the hotel is not suitable for a long vacation anyway, as it is next to a truck parking lot, there is also a factory right next to it, the motorway is not far away, so you can hear it.
