Lovely place to stay in Madrid with great location

Great location, comfortable bed and quiet room, despite overlooking a busy road below. Rooms are on the 4th floor but there is a lift. Reception hours are a little restrictive but check in was easy. Despite arriving outside of the reception opening hours we received instructions the day before of how to access the accommodation. Lots of restaurants/cafes/supermarkets within a few steps of the hostel. The staff we met on our check out day were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again when in Madrid

Perfect and very helpful staff

Very nice stay in the heart of Madrid. Great location! The room was very spacious, comfortable and with good air conditioner. The wifi worked well. What I appreciated the most was the kindness of the service as i had my flight cancellation then rebooked and they were flexible for me not to lose the reservation. Thank you again for friendliness and help!
I would definitely stay here again

Excellent clean hostal in a central location

We recently stayed at this hostal. Located on a one-way pedestrianized/traffic street the hostal iis in a building directly opposite a Dim Sum restaurant.
Opening black wrought-iron entrance gatesy you enter the building onto a tiled floor hallway and then through another door. An old-fashioned metal lift-works fine- faces you and behind it is the reception desk for all the hostals in the building.
Once checked-in we were brought to the fourth floor where the hostal is located. Card-entry via a strong door and then into a bright reception area. Our room was at the end of a long corridor-echoes of the film The Shinning- with room doors on the right as we walked down the corridor. Sensor lighting is used to light the corridor.
Our room was spacious and bright. A wooden floor made a nice change from room carpet. Decent beside tables, a small clean fridge, two chairs and lots of storage space. Wall-mounted TV which was ideal for watching while in bed.
There was a counter-top where the kettle/coffee items were stored as well as a wall-mounted fold-out table.
Our room view was the back of the hotel and adjacent buildings. We were able to open the windows. The curtains left in light which might annoy those who like to sleep in total darkness.
There was air-conditioning in the room which worked without fuss.
Bathroom was spacious but it looked like it had been designed by the singer, Prince.
Purple everything where including the sink. The shower area was spotless but the tiled shower floor was lethal. So mind your wet step!
There is a wall-mounted hairdryer in the bathroom. A bidet is located next to the toilet.
Only room quibble, no tea-bags only coffee sachets. Also, spoons/plates would be nice addition to the coffee/tea-making facility.
Housekeeping is supplied during your stay by way of a housekeeping required indicator which is mounted on the door. Slide across the tab if housekeeping is required.
This hostal is an ideal choice for location and budget in a city with too many over priced hotels. S taying here is more like apartment living than hotel staying.

A hotel without a reception host.

This hotel was in a very good central location. The rooms were fine, basic but everything I needed. What I didn't like was that everything was done without people, except for housekeeping. We were e-mailed instructions for how to get into the hotel, which involved opening a box outside the door and then getting a card. If it hadn't worked at any time this would have been problematic. There was number posted. My friend who knew Spanish tried to call but it was difficult to get help. There was no one to ask for suggestions on anything. Some people like that, I didn't. The other thing was that the hotel was on the 5th floor approximately, I don't remember exactly. There was an old style elevator to take you up and down, it involved closing doors in a certain way and pressing the floor. My friend and I were afraid of getting stuck, especially late at night and not being able to get help. After a long day of walking or if you had luggage, it was really to far to climb. Although I am athletic, I am older, and that was too much for me.

Good stay

Location was great. Room was comfortable. Bed was hard, but not awful. Would stay again. Easy to get everywhere. We never even used metro. No one at reception most of the time, but easy to access at any hour.
