Extraordinary and wonderful find - A replica Roman Villa who'd have thought!
What an amazing and unexpectedly charming place!
This replica Roma Villa was built by the slightly eccentric, friendly Owner, whom I believe is a local Professor of Ancient History (English was purely via Google Translate which, in itself, added to the effect!).
Having navigated Don Alvaro (I'm not sure we ever went the same way twice, but its a sweet village) the drive up the drive to the Vila is pure Gladiator - Think Cyprus tree drive (without the hand brushing the corn!).
If you've been to Pompey you'll get the idea: You enter via the Pluvium (a small courtyard entrance hall with a hole in the roof that allows any rain into the small central pool).
Check-in at the office off the Pluvium whilst listening to classical music and looking at real and replica artefacts and decorations.
Then through to the Atrium - large courtyard with garden and rooms along the walls. There are twelve rooms, ours was spacious and clean with a large shower room - small TV with no UK Channels that we could find, but Hey, the Romans didn't watch TV! (Wifi only in the Dining Room or on the Veranda)
It's quite an experience.
There is no food available other than the continental breakfast - however there's an honesty Bar (beers, water, soft drinks in the fridge) and there are good cooking facilities available for use off the large dining room.
The pool looks out over the Plain and the setting is generally magnificent.
So - this is a pretty basic place - it's certainly not a 5* luxury hotel, but that's its charm.
Merida with all of its Roman ruins, along with all of the restaurants etc is only 10 mins away, parking is easy there (ask the Owner for tips too)
Treat yourself. After all it's not expensive and you won't find anywhere else like it.
I hope you will agree with me, it's the perfect place to set yourself up for a visit to Merida.
I've given Average Service Rating because there's nothing to expect after check-in other than a friendly face and of course help if required.

Si deseas retroceder en el tiempo y sentirte como un auténtico patricio romano, éste es tu lugar!
Lugar ideal tras visitar Mérida, Augusta Emerita. Un gran descubrimiento. Si te gusta la civilización romana, o quieres sentirte como Máximo Décimo Meridio, al regresar a su hogar, no lo dudes, este es tu sitio. Se convierte en un destino en sí mismo, en una maravillosa villa donde hacer vida contemplativa, desconectar y disfrutar de la calma, del silencio, mientras te recreas en el paisaje al atardecer y llega la noche, convirtiéndose en un lugar mágico. La casa, estructurada siguiendo fielmente los cánones de la época. Las estancias... increíbles y magnificas, decoradas con todo lujo de detalle, hasta el punto de sentirte como un auténtico patricio romano. Uno soñaría con retirarse a vivir a un hogar como éste, surgido de otra época...
La acogida por parte de los propietarios, Antonio y Rocío, fue fantástica, pendiente de nosotros en todo momento, nos hemos sentido como en casa, compartiendo pasiones comunes.
Nos encantaría regresar, para pasar bastantes más días, es uno de los alojamientos más bellos que he estado. No os dejará indiferentes!
La acogida por parte de los propietarios, Antonio y Rocío, fue fantástica, pendiente de nosotros en todo momento, nos hemos sentido como en casa, compartiendo pasiones comunes.
Nos encantaría regresar, para pasar bastantes más días, es uno de los alojamientos más bellos que he estado. No os dejará indiferentes!

Quería agradecer, y dejar constancia, el gran detalle que tuvieron con nosotros al cancelar sin gasto -aunque no nos correspondía- un fin de semana para cuatro personas por una incidencia grave e imprevisible, eso sí.

repetiremos seguro
excelente, no podemos decir otra cosa, desde el trato teléfonico. la estancia no podía ser mejor y el trato allí recibido. Chapó. Estuve con mi novia en verano y hemos vuelto un grupo de amigos ahora en noviembre. Y volveremos seguro. Estamos encantados.

No volveremos a reoetir

Es el segundo año que repetimos pero será el último. Han cambiado mucho las cosas. Aunque se escudan en que las normas contratadas son esas, no es de recibo que no entren varios servicios (cosa que el año pasqdo si entraban) en un alejamiento en el que dejamos mil y pico euros. Para empezar no proporcionan una triste toalla, no hay suficiente menaje acorde con grupos grandes, los vasos de tubo brillan por su ausencia, hay 2 frigoríficosque son
pequeños para un grupo grande y apenas enfrían. La cocina huele fatal. Y para remate la basura acumulada la tiene que llevar cada uno en su coche al pueblo que esta a 2km, si eso es así podrían proporcionar los medios adecuados para transportarla como un carro o algo. Sintiéndolo mucho este año estamos muy descontentos y no volveríamos a repetir.

Grupo 15 de octubre. ¡¡Vaya sorpresa con este grupo!! Lo que hay y no hay en la casa, muy detalladamente, ya lo sabíais antes de hacer la reserva y la basura se tira a 800 m (según el cartel puesto por el Ayuntamiento). TODO lo que criticais ya lo sabíais ANTES de reservar. Entonces... ¿Por qué hicisteis la reserva?(??????)
Reservaron 3 días, durante 2 de ellos me mandaron mensajes diciendo lo super bien que estaban, pidieron irse más tarde de lo acordado (debían estar fatal....entiéndase la ironía) accedimos sin problemas igual que cedimos con todo lo que pidieron de más, fuera de contrato. El 2º día de estancia (insisto, estando ellos alojados en la casa) me piden presupuesto para otro grupo de amigos a los que nos han recomendado (teniendo tan malas opiniones aun sabiéndolo todo con un mes de antelación!! y nos recomiendan a unos amigos... no lo entiendo, la verdad). Estamos sorprendidos ya que fue todo muy bien. Sonia, yo sí tengo buen recuerdo de vosotros y no lo lamenteis tanto que no pasa absolutamente nada. Un abrazo. Rocío
